24 March 2014

Feeling the need to innovate, to get inspired and to feel continuous progress? In the spirit of TED, we proudly present you on March 31st of 2014: TEDxBinnenhof Viewing Party Venlo.

Broadcasted to you, live from the Blue Innovation Center in Venlo, Dutch top innovators will give ‘the talk of their live’ at TEDxBinnenhof in The Hague (NL). The theme Global Challenges, Dutch Solutions inspired a total of 10 of Netherlands’ best innovators to present their Ideas Worth Spreading concerning food, water, energy, high-tech etc. Dutch Solutions, with Global impact!

Milking Plants – a Dutch Solution, with Global Impact
During our viewing party we celebrate Jeroen Rondeel’s TEDTalk at TEDxBinnenhof. He is an entrepreneur living and working in Venlo and is one of the speakers at TEDxBinnenhof. He will present a technique with which he can ‘milk’ nutrients from plants without causing too much damage to plants. After three weeks the plants will have healed sufficiently to be milked again. The concept is developed under the flag of Flora Fluids in the Blue Innovation Center in Venlo. The concept is nominated bij FME – Powered by Dutch Technology. This event unites all partners’ and organizations’ ambition to present and spread innovations and ideas in agro, food, high-tech and logistics from this region.

We want you – Join the TEDxBinnenhof Viewing Party
We invite entrepreneurs, students, innovators, scientists and officials of public institutions from whole our region to get inspired, have surprising conversations, and join the TEDx Community. We warmly welcome you to join the TEDxBinnenhof Viewing Party.
Location: Blue Innovation Center Venlo, Noorderpoort 45
Time: March 31 from 12.45h – 16.45h, program details via www.tedxcommunity.nl

Booklet called State of the Art

Booklet called State of the Art

02 September 2013

Free download: Booklet called Stand der Techniek (State of the Art) on 8 promising production techniques with high potential including the Pulseform technique initiated by Wetering and Tubeworkx

Syntens recently organised a congress in collaboration with Koninklijke Metaalunie and FDP on niche production techniques that offer high potential. Experts explained the techniques and Jo van de Put has described them in detail in a booklet called Stand der Techniek (State of the Art). The booklet gives detailed consideration to the Pulseform technique initiated by Wetering and Tubeworkx.
Production techniques:
The niche production techniques that are presented in the booklet:
• (Rotation) friction welding
• Etching
• Metal castings based on 3D printing
• Electrochemical Machining
• Metal Injection Moulding
• Electromagnetic Pulse Crimping
• Additive manufacturing technology for metals
• Electroforming

INNOVATION AT WETERING METAALPERSWERK

INNOVATION AT WETERING METAALPERSWERK
Brass as strong as stainless steel

Wetering Metaalperswerk is your number 1 partner in innovative solutions in non-ferrous alloys; brass with the same strength as stainless steel. We would like to tell you about the latest developments taking place in our continually innovating company:
Wetering has introduced Quick Response Manufacturing as part of its management strategy. Wetering has also devoted a large amount of energy to innovative development and production techniques, such as FEM product simulation and Additive Manufacturing. In addition to more traditional brass alloys, Wetering now processes new materials like high-strength, lead-free alloys and we have also made our first aluminium products. Lastly, we put our new main press ‘Big Mama’ into operation in May 2013.

Wetering – Founder of the QRM Center
Quick Response Manufacturing (QRM) is a management strategy that was originally devised to complement Lean Manufacturing. QRM focuses on reducing time losses and shortening integrated lead times. It was first developed in the late 1980s by Rajan Suri, professor at the University of Wisconsin.

In QRM, variability is no longer a limitation, but utilised as an advantage, which makes it particularly suitable for customer-order-driven companies with a large variation in order types and volumes. QRM enables Wetering to make products from non-ferrous alloys quickly and efficiently.
Wetering is the founder of the QRM Center (hyperlink to http://www.qrm-centrum.nl) at HAN University of Applied Sciences in Arnhem. The QRM Center contributes actively to the development and dissemination of knowledge about QRM and practical experiences in its implementation and application.
Wetering and innovative development & production techniques.

Product simulation and Additive Manufacturing
Our engineers are trained in product simulation with which scaled-down versions of the production processes and end products are replicated. As a result, any modifications that have to be made in order to optimise the end product are clear in advance and the time-to-market is also shortened. With Additive Manufacturing, a 3D model is used to make a mock-up or sample from plastic or metal. If preferred, a hot press mould can be built immediately, which enables rapid upscaling to series production. The process of CAD (Sollid) to completely processed brass takes place within a period of 4 weeks.

Excenter press ‘Big Mama’
Wetering has made a substantial investment in a new excenter press. With an installation weight of approximately 92 tonnes and a maximum impact force of 550 tonnes, the press has been aptly named ‘Big Mama’. The advanced press enables Wetering to hot-press large, complex products with extreme precision. Optimal material usage and minimum rework are guaranteed by implementing the latest generation of hollow press techniques.

The advantages for you as a customer
As an innovative company, we are able to offer you as a customer a large number of benefits: – Wetering functions as an extension of your own product development department and delivers fast and advanced product creation – Engineering of complex products; product simulation facilitates optimal product design, including all the required tooling; – Product creation with rapid prototyping: initial mock-ups of products are made using additive manufacturing – Rapid manufacturing enables us to go from tooling to series production within a period of 4 weeks – Wetering stands for high quality and delivery reliability

Our flexibility serves your ability to be a winner
If you would like to know what Wetering can mean for you in making your customer-specific products, contact our Sales-Manager Ruud van der Vleuten by email (hyperlink to r.v.d.vleuten@wetering.com) or by calling +31 (0)411-673917.

Meeting Dommel Valley Successful!

04 December 2012

On Thursday 22nd of November there was again a Dommel Valley meeting. Dommel Valley is a platform for knowledge exchange and mutual cross-fertilization with respect to development of robust products and processes and life time quality. This is based on design for Six Sigma methodology and Reliability Engineering
This time the meeting was held at Wetering. After a short introductory round and presentation, there was given an extensive tour through the factory. This way everyone can get acquainted with hot forging and its features. Also included was a presentation about by Wetering introduced Quick Response Manufacturing (QRM) by Professor Jan Riezebos, Associate Professor of Operations at the University of Groningen. The meeting ended with a drink and dinner.

Vialle Euro 6.

Vialle Euro 6.

14 February 2012

Vialle Euro.6 reduced emission of particulate matter by means of a brass solution.

Mr Atsma, the State Secretary for Infrastructure and the Environment, reacted enthusiastically to Vialle’s demonstration of the first LPG Euro-66 direct injection vehicle. This innovation not only reduces CO2 emissions by more than 10%, but also the emission of particulate matter by more than 99%, to an almost negligible level. Wetering’s gas tight brass solution made an important contribution to this breakthrough. Wetering realized the industrialization of the Fuel Selector Unit (FSU), the most important part of the LPdi system, for Vialle.
